These Are the Generations of Noach

Great Flood Genesis 6:9-8:14

Noah was righteous in his wicked generation. Hashem decided to destroy the world in a flood. He, therefore, instructed Noach to build an ark, on which there would be two of each creature, seven pairs of clean animals.

Ark Materials

Gopher wood, caulked inside and outside with pitch.

Dimensions: 300 cubits long; 50 cubits wide; 30 cubits high with three decks with a skylight.

120 years to build.

After the Flood

Covenant of the rainbow -- Genesis 8:15-9:19

Noach and his family left the ark. Noach built an altar and made a sacrifice to thank Gd.

Gd tells Noah of the covenant with Man, never to destroy the world with water.

Noach's Vineyard Genesis 9:20-29

Noach planted a vineyard.

His son, Ham, saw him in his nakedness while he was drunk.

Shem and Yefeth covered him.

When he awoke, he cursed Ham's fourth son Canaan.

Noach lived 350 years after the flood, dying at age 950.

The Tower of Babel Genesis 11:1-9

The earth had one language. People migrated to Shinar to build a city and a tower,in rebellion against Gd. He confused their language and dispersed them over the earth.

Avraham's Family Genesis 11:26-32

Terach fathered Avram, Nachor, and Haran.

Haran fathered Lot, Milcah, and Yiscah.

Avram married Sarai; Nachor married Milcah.

Terach moved the family from Ur Casdim to Charan.

Terach died in Charan at age 205.
